Pain Management

EPIDURAL STEROID INJECTIONS

An epidural injection places medicine into the epidural space to decrease inflammation of the nerve roots with intent to reduce pain in the low back and/or legs.

  • Reduces pain and improves function in the majority of cases within 3-7 days
  • May provide permanent relief or provide a period of pain relief allowing other treatments, such as physical therapy to be more effective
RADIOFREQUENCY

Radiofrequency (RF) lesioning is a safe, proven means of interrupting pain signals. The goal is to provide pain relief by applying a controlled amount of electricity to a specific nerve that has been determined to be the cause of your pain.

  • Radiofrequency current is used to heat up a small volume of nerve tissue, thereby interrupting pain signals from that specific area
  • A low-risk method of treating mechanical pain syndromes caused by degeneration of the spinal facet joints and surrounding tissue
